This site was developed primarily by Alren Desoyo with the assistance of Dana Cabrera, Georgia Katindig and Riana Santos.  They are HEDCen HS Graduates Batch 2010-2011.  The site is administered by Alren Desoyo and Henry Calilung (HEDCen’s Life Sciences Coordinator as well as the coordinator for TRCP).

Our objectives are, primarily, to raise awareness of the need to restore and preserve the Tungtong River watershed; and secondarily, to have a repository of data gathered through various research and conservation projects conducted by students and faculty of the Holistic Education and Development Center, a non-stock, not-for-profit, non-sectarian private school in Taytay, Rizal.

The TRCP webpage is now hosting a unified calendar of events organized by LGUs and institutions who have been helping restore and conserve this national treasure.  These are namely: the off ice of the Baranggay Captain of Dolores (Taytay, Rizal), the office of the Mayor of Taytay (Rizal), the Maharlika Hills Homeowners’ Initiative for the Conservation and Preservation of the Tungtong River Watershed, and of course, HEDCen’s TRCP.  Please find below our unified calendar of events:

The trees need you.  We are looking for volunteers who are willing to devote 2 hours of their time to help in the conservation of critically endangered Philippine native trees.  Work involves watering, pruning, clearing unwanted growth, re-planting, and data gathering.  Come to HEDCen at 330PM every Tuesday and Friday.  Don’t have time but would still like to help?  Donations in money or kind would be most appreciated (we need 2nd-hand gardening tools, gloves, and rubber boots).  Contact Henry Calilung, TRCP Coordinator, at 0943-310-8290 for more information.

Look through the shady trees of summer

Hear the song of the birds

Run with the waters of the river

You’ll never realize

How much will be wasted

If this was never seen

Hidden, as people may find it

Wrecked, as the creatures see it

Happiness it’s filled with

Tears of the rain it’s submerged in

Leaves fall down from the branches

Down they go with laughter and sadness

They go on a long way

And then,

They stop.

I climb down the rocks

To hear the sound of the rush

The crystals hidden in the water

Stay hidden

And could never be found

The footprints of children stay in there

For it cannot forget the happiness it had

When it had people that see its beauty

No ordinary person could see

Shout at the rocks

Hear no reply

Peacefully it sits near the waters

It doesn’t want anything

But silence

And the melody of the falls

Slowly the grass dances

With the wind

Gracefully it sways

To the leaps of the insects

If this was never found,

What would it be now?
